The Basel painter, draughtsman and graphic artist Hans Weidmann was a founding member of the Basel group of artists known as  Kreis 48 . The principal focus of Weidmann’s output has been glass-painting and mosaics.

In 1973‑74, he had a solo exhibition at the Ernst Beyeler Gallery in Basel; there was a further exhibition in 1998 that constituted a retrospective of his life’s work. In 2007, the Galerie Carzaniga in Basel exhibited his work.
