To date, very little is known about the Parisian glass-painter Joseph Alfred Ponsin. In 1879, he was living and working in the same street as Sarah Bernhardt, the elegant Rue Fortuny in the 17th arrondissement. One of his works was awarded a prize at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1878.
